Bar Code Inspecting and Carton Rejecting - System Spotlight

This system was designed to rotate cartons, inspect legibility of printed barcodes, and reject non-qualified cartons. The cartons enter the system barcode side up from the inkjet printer on a Shuttleworth Slip-Torque® conveyor. The cartons are then transferred to a belt conveyor in preparation for a waterfall application. When the cartons transfer to the lower belt conveyor, they are rotated 90 degrees so that the barcode is forward facing. Once rotation is complete, a side mounted scanner scans the barcode to detect the quality of the print. Cartons with approved barcode scans continue further down the line while rejected cartons are blown off the line into a customer supplied bin.

Welcome to System Spotlight, giving you an in-depth look at Shuttleworth’s more advanced product handling systems and conveyor applications. In this video, we will showcase a solution for one of our customers that wanted a system that would rotate cartons, inspect the legibility of printed barcodes, and reject non-qualified cartons.
