Inspecting, Sorting and Laning Packaged Food Cups - System Spotlight

This system was designed for one of our customers that wanted to transport, reject, and divide sleeved plastic containers of humus at a rate of 150 products per minute. Products enter the system from the customer supplied sleever. The products’ sleeve is then inspected through an opening in the Shuttleworth conveyor surface by a customer supplied vision system. Products are sorted into two groups, Non-conforming and Approved. Non-conforming products are rejected by a servo reject kicker which diverts the rejected product to the reject accumulation lane. Approved products from the inspection area, will continue downstream past two side transfers and sent to a pneumatic diverter. The diverter directs the products into two lanes where they will continue to the customer supplied case packer.

Welcome to System Spotlight, giving you an in-depth look at Shuttleworth’s more advanced product handling systems and conveyor applications. In this video, we will showcase a solution for one of our customers that wanted to transport, reject, and divide sleeved plastic containers of hummus at a rate of 150 products per minute.

Products enter the system from the customer-supplied sleever. The product’s sleeve is then inspected through an opening in the Shuttleworth conveyor surface by a customer-supplied vision system. Non-conforming products are rejected by a servo reject kicker, which diverts the rejected product to the reject accumulation lane.

Approved products from the inspection area will continue downstream past two side transfers to a pneumatic diverter. The diverter directs the products into two lanes where they will continue to the customer-supplied case packer.
